Vietnamese Cooking Class Fundraiser Successful

A ton loads of gratitude to Grandma June from Pho Metro - Markham for sharing some of her secret recipes with our community for the benefit of our Sport Karate team, Club Seiryu. Her cooking course raised $2125 for athletes heading to the Junior World Championships this October in Venice, Italy. Further donations from Pho Metro - Markham and NOX Dojo raised the amount to a whopping $2500.

Neighbourhood involvement has been identified as a cornerstone of a successful sporting community. The love and support shared to these athletes contribute to better future as our youth embody our dreams fulfilled.

Thank you to Grandma June, Grandpa. Uncle Joe, Auntie Kim, and Logan from Pho Metro - Markham for all you do for the Dojo and it's athletes.

Rate Increase Reminder

Just a reminder that on September 4, 2024, our rates will increase between $3-$5/month. If you wish to save, you can extend your membership by paying in the month of August. Please email Sensei Sean if you would like to take advantage of this option.

Fall Karate Schedule

Our Fall Schedule takes effect on September 4th, 2024 after Labour Day Weekend. We have changed the Tuesday night Brown/Black Belt class to be exclusively Meibukan Curriculum in honour of O’Sensei’s passing, to keep the Kaiha (School System) alive. It's curriculum includes conditioning, Yakusoku Kumite, Kobudo, and Meibuken Kata. It is open to athletes of all ages green belt and up.

Please note the slight change in the 5:00PM slot on Tuesday as well. Our Kobudo program will be absorbed in the Meibukan and Sports programs. Thus the Monday Kobudo time slot has changed to a Conditioning class. Conditioning classes are open to everyone but required for Sport Karate team members.

New Kyu (Under Black) Belt Testing Procedure

For the fall of 2024, we will be adopting a new procedure. Rather than a test week, there will be an evaluation week. Testing will only be on a Saturday in the afternoon for one day only.

Coaches Week

NOX Dojo encourages all brown and black belt to begin or continue their leadership journey by taking part in Coaches’ Week. Course are often at a reduced rate and it is a wonderful way to pair your physical activity with intellectual support.

Good Luck Pan Am Athletes

Best of luck to our athletes as well as all of team Canada on their performances in Sao Paulo, Brazil this weekend. Bring back lots of memories and personal growth. Reach for the sky. NOX Dojo is so happy for what you have achieved thus far. The Pan Am experience is just the icing on the cake.
