Cassidy and Meredith Shine at Nationals…..
NOX Dojo’s sport karate team, Club Seiryu, fared well at the 2024 Karate Canada’s National Championships. Eight of our athletes will be representing Canada at the PKF’s Pan Am Karate Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil this August. There will much said about these athletes upon our return. In this issue however, it must be mentioned our other two (2) superstars.
Meredith Huang and Cassidy Truong laboured hard throughout the year not to earn a podium result. Although both having to fight their way within challenging pools, they demonstrated the true hearts of champions giving their all for the best in the nation. Cassidy who is now ranked the highest Ontario athlete in U21 Female Kata performed admirably against the junior world champion in her division. Her ranking as 5th in Canada is not to be taken lightly as she has lots left in the tank. Meredith is our rising star who performed her personal best this year with a score of 37.40 was among the top scoring athlete in her division with only four (4) other individual athletes scoring higher.
While eight (8) might be heading to Brazil, all ten (10) are among the best in the nation. We are all truly proud of their marvelous results and poise demonstrated throughout the year and look forward to seeing them shine again next year.
Vietnamese Cooking Class (Fundraiser)

This year, the Pan Am Karate Championships are in Sao Paulo, Brazil in August. Thanks to Pho Metro Markham for hosting a Vietnamese Cooking Class as a fundraiser with funds going towards athletes who qualify.

Just a reminder that on September 4, 2024, our rates will increase between $3-$5/month. If you wish to save, you can extend your membership in the month of August. Please email Sensei Sean if you would like to take advantage of this option.
August Karate Schedule
Please note this August, we are trying a new summer schedule. Due to close the proximity of the long weekends in this month and the Pan Am Karate Championships, there will only be one youth class and one adult karate class per day. Please see below:
Monday to Thursday: All Kids at 6:00PM | All Adults at 7:00PM
Saturday, July 6: All Adults at 9:30AM | All Kids at 10:30AM
